SUSTAINABILITY / A PRACTICAL GUIDE

Better-informed choices.
Workwear built for purpose.

Choose materials, products and quantities thoughtfully. Start with what your team needs, then look closely at the evidence behind each option.

At NxtGen Ent. Ltd, our workwear page brings together the brochure, examples of our printed and embroidered work, and an enquiry form. This guide helps you prepare a brief that considers performance, longer use and product-specific information.

01 / UNDERSTANDING MATERIALS

Read beyond
the fibre name.

No single material is the best choice for every job. Compare composition, comfort, care and the demands of daily wear.

REPROCESSED INPUTS

Recycled fibres

Recycled fibres use recovered material as an input. Recycled polyester, for example, may come from used plastic bottles or textile waste. Ask what the source is, how much recycled content the garment contains and how that claim is supported.

Recycled content does not automatically mean a garment can be recycled again. Blends, trims and decoration can affect end-of-life options. Strength, stretch and drying performance also depend on the particular fabric and construction.

HOW COTTON IS GROWN

Organically grown cotton

Organic cotton is grown under organic agricultural rules, with restrictions on synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. That describes farming; it does not, on its own, verify every later stage of making, dyeing or decorating a garment.

Cotton can suit comfortable everyday clothing, while a blend may better meet particular drying, stretch or wear requirements. Check the actual fibre mix and supporting documentation rather than assuming an organic label guarantees the right performance.

02 / CHOOSING FOR LONGER USE

Think in working days.

A garment’s usefulness depends on how well it fits its purpose, not just the description on its label.

Match the garment to the job

Consider movement, temperature, abrasion and laundering frequency. Review fabric weight, seams and any available durability information. A heavier fabric is not automatically more suitable: comfort and the working environment matter too.

Get fit and quantities right

Use the selected brand’s size guide and collect a practical size breakdown. Allow for layering and different body shapes. Plan enough garments for rotation and washing, without ordering speculative stock that may never be worn.

Plan branding for continued use

Choose a decoration method and position suited to the fabric and task. Consider whether names, dates or campaign graphics could shorten useful life when roles or branding change. Confirm compatibility before decoration, especially where protective performance is required.

Care for the finished garment

Follow garment and decoration care instructions together. Check washing temperature, drying and ironing restrictions. Consider the whole period of use, from first issue to eventual replacement, rather than treating material content as the only decision.

03 / RESPONSIBLE SOURCING & TRANSPARENCY

Ask specific questions.

Ask who made the selected product, where relevant manufacturing stages took place and what information supports statements about working conditions. If an audit or supplier policy is offered, check its date, scope and the facilities it covers. A policy describes expectations; it is not proof of every outcome.

For traceability, ask how a material claim is connected to the finished item. Request documentation identifying the product code, composition and relevant certificate or declaration. Check whether it covers your chosen colour and variant.

This is buying guidance. It does not establish that NxtGen, every supplier or every brochure item holds the same credentials. Include any required evidence in your enquiry before a product is agreed.

04 / UNDERSTANDING CERTIFICATIONS

The scope is the story.

A standard may cover a material, article or supply-chain stage. Check the certificate holder, validity and exact scope, including whether decoration is covered.

RCS & GRS

The Recycled Claim Standard and Global Recycled Standard address recycled materials and chain of custody. GRS also includes processing-related social, environmental and chemical requirements.

Read Textile Exchange’s guidance ↗

GOTS

The Global Organic Textile Standard covers processing of textiles made with organic fibres, with environmental and social requirements. Organic fibre content alone does not establish that a finished garment is GOTS-certified.

Read the official GOTS guidance ↗

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

This concerns testing textiles for harmful substances. It is not, by itself, evidence of organic farming or recycled content. Check the certificate number and the article it covers.

These standards are explained for reference; their inclusion is not a claim of NxtGen accreditation or certification of our range.

07 / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Useful details,
before you order.

How do I check recycled content?

Request the composition and recycled percentage for the exact product, plus documentation supporting the claim. Do not assume all fibres or colourways are identical.

Is organic cotton always the best option?

No material suits every task. Compare the selected garment’s fit, performance and care needs alongside evidence about how its cotton was grown and processed.

Does one certificate cover the whole range?

No. Check the holder, covered products and production stages. A certificate for one material or item does not extend automatically to other products.

Can a certified garment be branded?

Compatibility and certification scope depend on the garment, decoration and scheme. Ask whether the finished decorated item supports the claim you intend to make.

How should I wash branded workwear?

Follow the garment label and decoration guidance. If instructions differ or are unclear, seek clarification before washing, drying or ironing.

Are all options available in every size and colour?

Availability, composition and supporting evidence vary by product and variant. Confirm your chosen codes, sizes, colours, quantities and lead time when enquiring.
